I am Anita Strong, your local trainer in The Hills District, Paramatta, Blacktown, The Eastern Suburbs, St. George and the Sutherland Shire. I have been a professional dog trainer, and specialist in behaviour and obedience, since 2005.
After years of working in large corporations, and gaining a lot of valuable experience, I decided on a lifestyle change. Now, dogs are my life, my business, my career, and most of all – my love (even more than chocolate!)
I started professional dog training in 2005, working closely with the late John Richardson, aka The Dog Whisperer, benefitting from his extensive knowledge and wisdom with dogs. I have attained the Master Trainer accolade, Trainer of the Year awards and I am an accredited member of The Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
The most satisfying part of my job is knowing that I have enabled numerous owners to enjoy a fun and fulfilling life with their canine companions. With my training and advice, I have taught boisterous and over excitable young dogs to calm down and listen; I have helped many anxious and fearful pooches to become relaxed; I have prevented countless naughty hounds from being surrendered to the shelters; I have rehabilitated aggressive dogs on the Council’s ”Dangerous Dog List” to regain their deserved freedom. The more I work with dogs, the more I appreciate them and the more I want to improve my understanding and treatment to help them.
I regularly present and provide advice to the public at dog events, and to staff members at Councils and shelters. I volunteer at animal shelters to train the dogs, staff and volunteers to help improve the re-homing rate, and I regularly walk the dogs at a dog rescue to give them some much needed exercise and TLC. As a Pets As Therapy volunteer, I take my friendly Labrador x Fox Terrier, Chum Chum, to nursing homes and educational facilities to bring some cheer and stress relief.
My Training Philosophy
I approach every dog and their owner as an individual, with different temperament, background, expectation and lifestyle. My empathetic manner, easy to follow and gentle methods, based on positive reinforcement, discipline and bonding, will guide you to communicate effectively with your dog, to build your relationship and trust, and guarantee the successful results you want.
We would whole heartedly recommend Anita Strong for dog training. Her methods are easy to follow and certainly give results! - Natalie
Our 2yr old Pomeranian, is responding very well to the “come”, “sit”, “stay” and “drop” commands at home; she is no longer barking at visitors at the door; walking is now excellent, and she remains calm with cars and bus noises passing in either direction; she uses the doggie door and goes outside to toilet regularly. - Yvonne & Kevin
